A North Naples woman is behind bars for abusing a baby so bad - the little boy needs specialized care.

Deputies said the baby sitter even lied to the mother - blaming a toy on what caused the child's injuries.

Deputies said that care taker called the infant's mother to say he had been vomiting, but deputies say it wasn't because he was sick, it was because he was hurt.

24-year-old Cherie Landowski is charged with aggravated child abuse and is in jail without bond.

When the child's mother picked him up at Landowski's home, she noticed a bruise on his forehead. The 5-month-old baby was not only vomiting, but shaking and going limp at times. Deputies said Landowski blamed it on a toy hitting him in the head.

After an investigation, doctors said the brain injury could not have been accidental and deputies said Landowski is the one responsible.

The baby is at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida for specialized care. The Department of Children and Families is investigating.
