DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A Volusia County woman whose 4-month-old baby drowned last year has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

As part of a plea deal, 31-year-old Christal Giachetti pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated manslaughter of a child.

After the death of her son in April 2009, authorities say Giachetti gave conflicting accounts of how her baby was left unattended in the tub at her Ormond Beach home. Giachetti eventually admitted putting the baby in the tub and stepping away. She used several prescription drugs for a broken back, and told authorities she forgot about the baby and fell asleep.

Giachetti was arrested at a relative's home in Guilford, N.Y., about a month after the death.
