Janenika Harton of Steubenville pleaded not guilty Friday to two counts of child endangerment.

According to police chief Bill McCafferty, one of her babies was found outside in the rain.

Police say the baby was crying and trying to get into the family's home.

When police went inside, they found another small child crying in the living room.

The children were apparently between one and two years old.

Police say Harton returned to the home with the smell of alcohol.

Harton told authorities she went to get food and left the kids with their father.

The babies were taken by Children Services and are currently in their grandmother's care.
