With the coming federal election in sight, it may be timely to start considering the implications to non-resident parents of the coming election result.

Considering that neither of the three likely to be Prime Minister in the next term have ever had the experience of being denied contact with their child, some would argue that whatever the result, non-resident parents will simply get more of the same, which for most means very little genuine change in practice.

However others would argue that what may be lurking just around the corner is an explosion of new anti-father policies, driven by well funded ideological groups whose influence have been somewhat contained by a government that until recently, did not need their support. Maybe things have now changed!

1.        Will a John Howard victory mean more much needed reform of family law in this country, or will the battered and bruised Prime Minister lose his zeal for policies of conviction?

2.        Will a Peter Costello Prime Ministership mean the dawning of populist pampering within the coalition, or will the treasuer demonstrate the determined political 'courage' that has so far been missing in his public profile?

3.        Will a Kevin Rudd victory, and the coast to coast Labor state governments, collectively reach a new crescendo of anti-father gender discrimination in this country, or will Kevin Rudd's christian values see a re-focus of family law back onto the "child"?

You tell us!
